This, in memory of the precious lives lost fourteen years ago today. Lest we never forget.
On August 4th, we had the opportunity to visit New York City, thanks to a dear friend and fellow RVer, Kelly. Without her kind gesture of offering to be our tour guide and taking us there, we probably would have never experienced the 9/11 Memorial… hallowed ground… the place where so many lost their lives. God rest their souls. And may God bless the First Responders, those who were there that day, and whose suffering continues. A-men.
Something else I want to say is… my, it’s been a long, long time. I just looked back at my blog and could not believe it has been TEN WEEKS since my last post. I won’t apologize because I am sure you are getting tired of any apology by now, and I am tired of making excuses. Generally, I don’t roll that way. But I’m not happy about it. There is so much to say and so much to share and I am so behind on my posts that, well, life just got in the way!
Since leaving you in Shipshewana, IN back in July, we have traveled up and down the east coast of these United States… back and forth, back and forth. Yes, nearly two round trips. Where are we now, you ask? Well, we are back in Shipshewana, IN. What for this time, you ask? Well, we are back for more repairs on our Baby Girl. Yes, you read that right. More repairs! Today marks 13 days we have been holed up in this same hotel… this time around. Don’t get me wrong. The hotel is nice. They got to know us quite well the last time we were here. As a matter of fact, they liked us so much that they have put us up in a much larger room with a brand new 48” TV, a new refrigerator, a (soon to be new) microwave, a sofa, an upholstered chair, a table with two chairs, a large bathroom with a vanity inside and a vanity outside, etc. You get the picture. And they are not charging any more than they did for the smaller room on our last visit. Not that the price matters because the manufacturer of our RV is footing the entire bill! We get the miles, they get the bill! I like it when that happens.
Today is a very memorable day for a lot of reasons. Not only is it 9/11, but it is 9/11. You see, today marks our 1-year anniversary of full time RVing. I could have said we are “celebrating”, but how can we celebrate in this hotel? This is not where we want to be… or even thought we would be. We would rather be sitting around a campfire, with good friends, watching the leaves change color and fall off the trees, with a celebratory drink of Vanilla Smirnoff and Diet Coke in hand, listening to a little jazz… or country music! Yea. That’s how we would rather be celebrating! But, that is not the case at all. So, instead, we look for the silver lining and realize that things could be much worse! If this is all we have to contend with, aren’t we blessed? I think so!
I have a lot of catching up to do, but more on all of that later. For now, I just wanted to commemorate this special day with a brief update, and to let you know we haven’t gone anywhere… really. We’re still here. In Shipshewana.
Stay tuned. There’s so much I have to share.
